Report: Steelers Add CB Ahkello Witherspoon in Trade with Seattle

The Steelers are adding necessary depth through a trade with Seattle for Ahkello Witherspoon, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Witherspoon had spent the previous four seasons with the 49ers after being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s totaled 117 overall tackles and four interceptions during his NFL career. Witherspoon signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. The structure of Witherspoon’s contract with Seattle included a $2.5 million signing bonus and a $1.5 million base salary.

A move like this will add depth to a Pittsburgh secondary that’s been dealing with the departure of Mike Hilton, other key injuries and even concerns about forcing players into certain roles.
