Announcers Revealed for Steelers-Commanders Game
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ game against the Washington Commanders in Week 10 will be announced by CBS’ No. 2 crew of Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Charles Davis (color) and Evan Washburn (sideline). It will be the crews second Steelers game this year after they called the team’s Week 6 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.
With both teams currently leading their divisions, the Steelers-Commanders contest will be CBS’ top game during the 1 p.m. time slot next week. CBS’ No. 1 crew Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (color) and Tracy Wolfson (sideline) will call the Cowboys-Eagles game during the 4:25 p.m. time slot. The Steelers (6-2) are on their bye this week, while he Commanders (6-2) play the New York Giants on Sunday.
Washington is coming off a last-second win over the Chicago Bears, thanks to rookie star quarterback Jayden Daniels’ 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass to Noah Brown.
Daniels has turned heads this season. It appears that Washington finally has a franchise quarterback. New head coach Dan Quinn has also done a remarkable job. Daniels is well on his way to winning NFL Rookie of the Year, while Quinn is the leading candidate for NFL Coach of the Year.
The Steelers defense will be battle-tested in the final nine games, and it starts next Sunday against Washington. In points per drive, the Commanders rank first in the NFL.
While Daniels has been impressive this season, Mike Tomlin is 25-6 against rookie QBs during his tenure as Pittsburgh’s head coach. Daniels will be the second rookie quarterback to face the Steelers this season. The first was Bo Nix in Week 2, who the Steelers dismantled in a 13-6 win at Mile High. Daniels will certainly be a tougher test.
The last time the Steelers played the Commanders on the road was in 2016, a 38-16 Week 1 win on Monday Night Football. It will be the Steelers third regular season game at Northwest Stadium, formerly known as FedEx Field. The Steelers beat the Commanders at FedEx Field in 2008, as well. Before 2008, the last Steelers’ regular season game in Washington was in 1988, a 30-29 loss at RFK Stadium.
