Published

on

The news of the Steelers releasing veteran guard David DeCastro was immediately met with shock and outrage among most fans, and even some current players, but that has since calmed with the signing of Trai Turner.

No matter what you think of DeCastro being released, there’s no denying his departure solidifies the end of an era for the offensive line. DeCastro, a 6-time Pro Bowler and 2-time first team All-Pro, will be missed, but the question becomes how much considering his declining play and injury concern. There are even rumors about DeCastro’s desire to keep playing.

A 5-time Pro Bowler having spent most of his career with the Carolina Panthers before spending the 2020 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Trai Turner’s addition brings in a needed veteran to an otherwise young offensive line.

Are the Steelers better off with Trai Turner than a 2021 version of David DeCastro?
