Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney II is set to speak at the NFL’s fifth-annual Quarterback Coaching Summit on June 22 and 23, the league announced in a press release Friday.

The event, in conjunction with the second-annual Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum on June 21, aims to “continue building a diverse pipeline of front office and coaching candidates.”

The three-day event will consist of sessions and panels where participants will be able to learn directly from quarterback coaches, offensive coordinators, head coaches, general managers and other club decision makers.

In doing so, the league is hoping to continue fostering a strong base of minority coaching and front office candidates across the league.

Rooney’s portion will focus on the “priorities and the process of selecting a head coach and general manager.”

Speaking alongside Rooney will be Indianapolis Colts Offensive Coordinator Marcus Brady, Buffalo Bills Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier, Houston Texans Offensive Coordinator Pep Hamilton and San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator DeMeco Ryans.

“The Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum and Quarterback Coaching Summit are part of our ongoing efforts to establish a cultural norm of opportunity for all, and a steadfast commitment to developing a diverse and inclusive workforce,” NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent Sr. said. “With the in-person engagement participants will be exposed to the experienced coach and seasoned football personnel. They will have the opportunity to gain insight from these leaders in the football community.”

Improving opportunities for minority offensive coaches is especially important for the league, as the recent trend of head coach hiring a have largely come from the offensive side.
