Bengals to Start QB Ryan Finley vs. Steelers Monday Night

The Cincinnati Bengals will start quarterback Ryan Finely when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, the team announced Saturday.

Cincinnati had turned to journeyman quarterback Brandon Allen in the wake of losing first-overall pick Joe Burrow to a season-ending knee injury, but Allen has not practiced all week with a knee ailment of his own.

Finley has seen action in three games this season, passing for 75 yards in total and two interceptions.

Finely saw action in last year’s Bengals-Steelers game in Cincinnati, and was surprisingly effective. He completed only 46% of his passes, but threw for 192 yards and a score in a closer-than-expected Pittsburgh win.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Finely played the bulk of his college career at NC State after transferring in from Boise State. He passed for 10,501 yards and 60 touchdowns over three years with the Wolfpack.

Finley will face a tall task as he gets set to make his first start in 2020, opposing a Steelers defense that leads the league with 45 sacks and is second against the pass.
