Steelers Morning Rush Arthur Smith

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s whether offensive coordinator Arthur Smith can scheme his way around the team’s wide receiver shortage.

After trading away Diontate Johnson and missing out on Brandon Aiyuk, the Steelers will go into the season without much established receiving talent outside of George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth.

That’s going to lead to increased attention from defenses toward those two players. Can Smith scheme up the offense in such a way that the lesser-skilled players down the line in Pittsburgh’s pecking order can also get open? There’s good news on that front. He did last year in Atlanta.
