Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt will be the team’s most valuable player in 2021, according to a prediction by Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports.

Sullivan, who guessed at the top players for all 32 NFL teams, believes Watt will once again be one of the top defensive players in the league.

“Had it not been for Aaron Donald’s generational play as of late, T.J. Watt is likely your reigning Defensive Player of the Year for 2020,” Sullivan wrote. “The Steelers pass rusher led the NFL with 15 sacks and 23 tackles for a loss while also totaling 53 tackles and an eye-popping 61 pressures. Watt was a main reason why Pittsburgh had the No. 1 defensive in the NFL last year in terms of DVOA and he’ll continue to be asked to be the face of that unit heading into 2021.”

Watt finished second in the voting for the Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, losing to Donald, 27-20.

He was voted Steelers team MVP by his teammates for the second consecutive season, only the sixth time in team history a player had one it twice in a row. No player have ever won it three straight seasons.
