Changes Announced to Steelers Radio Broadcast Team

Tunch Ilkin’s retirement from the broadcast booth after a 23-year stint meant that some changes would be coming to WDVE’s broadcasts on the Steeler Radio Network. The pending changes were made official today by iHeartMedia, who announced the new broadcast team for this upcoming season.

Manning the color analyst position will be former Steelers offensive lineman Craig Wolfley. The move up to the booth comes after Wolfley spent nearly 20 years as a sideline analyst for previous broadcasts. Wolfley will be flanked by the legendary Bill Hillgrove, who retains the play-by-play spot for another season.

“This is an incredible honor knowing the people who proceeded me in this seat and a lineage I hope I do justice to,” said Wolfley.

Another former Steeler, Max Starks, has landed the role of sideline reporter alongside Missi Matthews. During his playing career with Pittsburgh as an offensive lineman, Starks won two Super Bowls with the 2005 and 2008 championship teams. Starks will work to create other Steelers related content outside of gameday broadcasts as well, including the “In The Locker Room” podcast with Wolfley that airs on ESPN 970 and on the Steelers Radio Network.

“I’ve traded in my helmet for a headset, and I’m excited to join the Steelers Radio Network and keep the Lineman tradition alive on the broadcasts,” said Starks.

All changes to the lineup are effective immediately. The full broadcast schedule can be found below.
