Cowherd: Steelers Should Trade Everybody for Shedeur Sanders

Colin Cowherd presented a very familiar trade package proposal for the Steelers to move up for Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

As the playoffs venture on without the Pittsburgh Steelers, the South Side and the rest of the eliminated franchises will look to address numerous aspects of their organization. FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd recently presented an idea that he, quite literally, had already presented for the Steelers to solve their quarterback question.

On his show “The Herd”, Cowherd suggested the Steelers sell the farm and move up to pick… Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The hypothetical cost in this scenario?

Two first-round picks.

All-Pro defender T.J. Watt.

Wide receiver George Pickens.

One would say that sounds like a unique, uncharacteristic, and blockbuster trade in this scenario. Except that Cowherd himself presented the exact same trade draft day proposal LAST YEAR–almost down to the exact detail.

Last year, Cowherd on his show said the Steelers should trade up to select current Chicago Bear quarterback Caleb Williams. The proposed trade package?

THREE first-round picks.

All-Pro defender T.J. Watt.

Wide receiver George Pickens.

If history is any indication of the likelihood of this trade occurring, perhaps a Mike Tomlin quote will sum it up, “Never say never, but, never.”

The Steelers do need to address the quarterback position soon as they only have Skylar Thompson under contract for 2025 under a reserve/future deal. However, the Steelers likely will not be in the market for this type of move. That would even be the case if Sanders was the consensus number-one overall prospect in the draft.
