Daily Links: Drake’s Big Ben Lyric, Claypool Impressing

Ben Roethlisberger

Drake has a Ben Roethlisberger lyric in his new song “Middle of the Ocean,” which was released on Friday. Drake references Roethlisberger in the song by saying “Big Benjamins like the Pittsburgh Steelers.” Drake also name-dropped New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Steelers have the second-easiest remaining schedule for wide receivers.

Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan thinks the Steelers made a mistake by selecting Pat Freiermuth over center Creed Humphrey in the 2021 NFL Draft. “I really like Pat. But Humphrey is on a gold jacket trajectory. Big miss,” Fillipponi said on Twitter. Humphrey was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs at 63rd overall and made the Pro Bowl as an alternate in his rookie season. You can even make the argument that the Steelers should have drafted Humphrey in the first round instead of Najee Harris.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports thinks Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. is by far the best player in the 2023 draft class. “Will Anderson (is the best player in the draft) and it’s not that close,” Wilson said on 93.7 The Fan. “People at Alabama are saying he’s the best defensive player to ever play for Nick Saban. … If you have Anderson bookend with T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, you’re on your way to fixing that defense.”

Chase Claypool is already turning heads at Bears practices. “He had a crazy catch out there today. It was like a deep ball and he just like went up and big-boyed someone,” Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney said. “He Mossed them. Exactly. The things he has been doing. It was nice to see it in person.”

Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who was hired from the Packers in January, played coy when asked about Claypool landing in Chicago instead of Green Bay. “What, they were trying to get him? That’s how in the dark I am,” Getsy said when asked about the Packers’ efforts to trade for Claypool. “You just enlightened me. So, I had no idea. We’re happy to have him. We’re excited to have him. Just his physical presence already, you see the guy walk in the door and you’re excited about what he can bring for our team.” Claypool is expected to make his Chicago debut on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins at Solider Field.

Georgia product George Pickens was at the Georgia-Tennessee game on Saturday. Pickens caught up with head coach Kirby Smart during pregame warmups.

T.J. Watt spent the bye week in Arizona with his wife Dani.
