🏈 Neither Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, Quez Watkins or Scotty Miller put up over 210 yards receiving in 2023. Roman Wilson is heading into his rookie year and has been out since the second week of training camp with a left ankle injury. The wide receiver corps certainly leaves a lot to be desired, especially if George Pickens gets injured. If it’s not Brandon Aiyuk, the Steelers need to make a move at wide receiver prior to the start of the season.
🏈 49ers insider Michael Silver said everything is still on the table regarding a Brandon Aiyuk trade. It remains a fluid situation.
“My updated information is that everything is still on the table, including all the trades you’ve heard about… That Steelers scenario… I wouldn’t rule out Washington,” Silver said on KNBR. Washington traded wide receiver Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.
🏈 Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to an extension that makes him the highest-paid center in the NFL. Humphrey was scheduled to make a $4.815 million base salary in the final year of his rookie deal. His four-year, $72 million extension includes $50 million guaranteed, Schefter reports.
The Steelers passed on Humphrey twice in the 2021 NFL Draft, selecting running back Najee Harris and tight end Pat Freiermuth instead. Humphrey was selected in the second round (63rd overall) by Kansas City.
🏈 Stephen A. Smith absolutely ripped Russell Wilson on First Take.
“Russell Wilson you’re beginning to piss me off. Somebody’s got to say it, so I’m going to say it. You stunk last year, you were paid $37.8 million to go away. The Denver Broncos were willing to eat nearly $38 million dollars to get rid of you, and you’re sitting there fighting for a starting job with Justin Fields,” Smith said. “You ain’t fighting for a starting job with Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or somebody. It’s Justin Fields you’re fighting for a job with. And he’s sitting there with some smile on his face talking about how everybody just needs to relax. You ain’t Aaron Rodgers, you don’t get to say that, you got to show up. You wearing the black and gold now, you’re a Steeler. I said it last year I’m going to say it again, the only damn thing good that you brought to Denver was Ciara.”
