🏈 Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley’s reverse hurdle covers Madden NFL 26.
“When you get the call, you don’t know what to expect, right? And they ask you, ‘Do you want to be part of the Madden cover?’ I don’t know if anyone’s turned that down,” Barkley said Monday on The Insiders when asked about finding out he’d serve as the game’s feature athlete. “I definitely wasn’t gonna turn that down, the opportunity. I know so many people, so many kids that dream and would love to be in the position I am right now. I remember as a kid wanting to be part of the Madden cover. There have been so many players that have been part of the Madden cover. Now to be mentioned and have my name attached with those guys, words really can’t describe it.”
🏈 On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a team bonding experience at Kennywood.
“This is a major component of team building from my perspective,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said, who was on hand with his family. “If we’re going to have unique relationships, and that be displayed in our play, we’ve got to be willing to put time in together in an informal way in an effort to build camaraderie and get to know one another. That’s what days like today are all about.”
🏈 Detroit Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow announced on Instagram that he is retiring from the NFL.
“I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m feeling good but I am not and it’s time to prioritize my health and my families future. I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don’t,” Ragnow said in a statement.
🏈 On Monday, Steelers wide receiver Ben Skowronek spent time with kids from Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania to kick off their All Sports Camp. They ran drills in an effort to encourage teamwork and promote staying active during a fun afternoon of football.
🏈 Current Steelers Beanie Bishop and Christian Kuntz, and alumni Max Starks and Vince Williams, were on hand to support the ‘Steelers Torneo de Tochito’ event at Tec de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico on Saturday.
“The Steelers Torneo de Tochito event in Monterrey was an amazing experience for everyone in attendance – the participants, parents, as well as the Steelers players and alumni,” said Starks. “Myself, Vince, Beanie and Christian not only got to see first-hand that Monterrey is Steelers Country, but also that Mexico has some incredibly talented young athletes. There were hundreds of boys and girls who put their flag football talents on full display, and we are so happy to have been there to be a part of it.”
🏈 Steel City Star posted a game-to-go of the Steelers’ game against the Cleveland Browns at Three Rivers Stadium in 1972. The Steelers shutout the Browns, 30-0.
