🏈 Moe Moton of Bleacher Report named Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon as the Steelers’ most ideal draft selection.
“Cameron Heyward will turn 36 years old in May,” Moton wrote. “The Pittsburgh Steelers shouldn’t rely solely on him to make game-changing plays across the defensive front while Keeanu Benton comes along in his third year. If the Steelers intend to knock the Baltimore Ravens off their AFC North throne, they need to be stronger up front to slow down Derrick Henry. Derrick Harmon could help the Steelers in that regard.”
🏈 Newly acquired Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell is ready to put in work for the Steelers.
“Time to put on for the steel city!!! #HEREWEGO!!” Gainwell wrote on X.
🏈 Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network thinks Mississippi defensive tackle Walter Nolen has a ton of upside.
“He’s probably the twitchiest defensive tackle in this draft. … He’ll more than likely hear his name called in the teens, early 20s at the latest,” Jeremiah said.
Brett Kollmann of The Film Room thinks a defensive tackle duo of Cam Heyward and Walter Nolen would be lethal.
“I don’t think NFL offensive lines are ready for the version of Walter Nolen that we will see if he is being guided by Cam Heyward or Calais Campbell,” Kollman wrote on X.
🏈 Steel City Star posted a throwback clip of the Steelers selecting Alan Faneca (first round) and Hines Ward (third-round) in the 1998 NFL Draft.
🏈 The Steelers official history account on X reflected on the team’s legendary 1974 draft class. The class headed by Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Jack Lambert, Mike Webster, and a free agent signing, Donnie Shell, would become heralded. All five of those players became Hall of Famers. It’s rare for one team to grab five starters in a draft, let alone Hall of Famers.
🏈 Happy Birthday to former Steelers strong safety and Hall of Famer Troy Polamalu, born on April 19, 1981 in Garden Grove, California.
🏈 Cris Collinsworth sees shades of Jalen Hurts in Jalen Milroe.
🏈 George Pickens and Diontae Johnson continue to train with each other this offseason.
