Dolphins Snap Up Steelers Starting OL in Free Agency

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms on a free agent contract with former Pittsburgh Steelers guard James Daniels, according to a report by NFL Network.
Daniels has agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract with the Dolphins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Daniels suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 4 of the 2024 season. Even before the injury, the Steelers had informed Daniels that they were not interested in extending his contract beyond its end in 2024.
The Steelers will instead likely move forward with 2024 fourth-round draft pick Mason McCormick at right guard. McCormick replaced Daniels after the injury, starting 14 games

The Steelers are going with a youth movement on the offense, with 2023 and 2024 draft picks McCormick, Broderick Jones, Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier all in starting slots along the offensive line in 2025.
Daniels first joined the Steelers in 2022, signing a three-year contract with the Steelers as a free agent from the Chicago Bears. He started 17 games in 2022 and 15 games in 2023, all at right guard, before playing just four games this past season.
A Warren, Ohio native, Daniels was originally a second-round pick out of Iowa of the Bears in 2018.
The contract with the Dolphins will add a compensatory draft pick slot for the Steelers, something they’ve been collecting throughout the day on Monday, as they also received slots as Justin Fields, Donte Jackson and Moore were signed away.
