It has been a difficult week for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, to say the least.
After his fiancé was arrested for allegedly punching him in the face earlier this week, it appears that Haskins is now in a financial dispute with an Instagram model.
According to Black Sports Online, Haskins is asking influencer Vanessa Chantal to return upwards of $20K in gifts that he purchased for her.
Chantal shared screenshots of the text message exchange between herself and Haskins. In the texts, the 24-year-old claims the money will not be going back into his pocket, but to assist family members in need.
Chantal laughed at Haskins’ request, and clearly has no desire or intent to pay him back.
Haskins was waived by the Washington Football Team last December after he was photographed maskless at a strip club mid-pandemic in clear violation of the league’s COVID-19 protocols.
Haskins had a shaky first two seasons in Washington, passing for 12 touchdowns with 14 interceptions and completing just over 60% of his passes.
The Steelers are hopeful Haskins can flash the talent he demonstrated in his final season at Ohio State, where he completed 70% of his passes for 4,831 yards with 50 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. He finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2018.
Still, he is on thin ice regardless of his talents, and the Steelers will likely not tolerate any antics that could become a distraction.
