Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush, has been arrested on misdemeanor charges in the Pittsburgh area, according to court documents.

Bush, who is currently a member of the Cleveland Browns, was arrested on Monday by police in Bell Acres, a small borough in northwest Allegheny County. Bush has been charged with simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and harassment, a summary offense. A second-degree misdemeanor faces a maximum punishment of two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Charges were read in a preliminary arraignment in front of magistrate Daniel Butler on Sunday evening and was released on non-monetary bail. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled in front of magistrate Giuseppe Rosselli on May 20.

Bush, 26, was the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, with Pittsburgh trading up to take the Michigan linebacker at No. 10 overall. That trade and the selection of Bush never worked for the Steelers, who declined the fifth-year option of Bush’s contract in 2022.

Bush played in 52 games over four seasons with the Steelers from 2019-22, making 48 starts at inside linebacker. He showed promise as a rookie in 2019, finishing third in the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, but Bush never had the same results after a torn ACL cost him most of his 2020 season.

After the Steelers let him go, Bush spent one season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023 before catching on with the Browns in 2024. With Seattle, Bush was a backup, playing in 13 games and making three starts. But with the Browns last season, he became a starter, playing in 16 games and making 10 starts while replacing an injured Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Bush re-signed with Cleveland on a one-year contract for the 2025 season worth $1.795 million on March 19.
