Former Steelers Offensive Lineman Re-Signs with Cardinals

Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum has re-signed with the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year deal. Beachum, 35, is heading into his 14th NFL season, sixth with the Cardinals.
Beachum began his career in Pittsburgh as a seventh-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft out of SMU. He spent four seasons in Pittsburgh, making 39 starts, 34 of which came at left tackle.
Upon leaving the Steelers, Beachum spent a single season with the Jacksonville Jaguars before a three-year stint with the New York Jets. He signed a one-year, veteran minimum contract with Arizona in 2020 and started all 16 games at right tackle. Beachum has been a starter in Phoenix ever since landing with the Cardinals. Last year, he played in 16 games and started 12.
The fact that Beachum is entering his 14th NFL season as a seventh-round pick is certainly impressive and a rare feat. Not many seventh rounders play even a single season.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin compared second-year offensive lineman Spencer Anderson to Beachum this past year in regards to his growth and development.
“As I mentioned earlier, man, his versatility was a calling card that allowed him to sustain. But the longer he is here, you better specialize in a certain area,” Tomlin said of Anderson’s versatility. “And really, his growth and development kind of reminds me a lot of Kelvin Beachum. If you remember years ago, versatility was in initially his calling card and then he settled into the tackle position and went on — shoot, Beach still might be playing. I think he is.”
