Former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has had a tumultuous NFL career, but he wants to end it where it all started. On Monday, Brown tweeted that he just wanted to retire a Steeler after the entire saga that has ensued around him over the past few years.

Brown was released from the Buccaneers in January after he ripped off his shirt and trotted off the field against the New York Jets. Afterward, Brown has yet to latch on with another team, although he has likely been searching for the next fit. The Buccaneers were the fourth team to offload Brown since 2019, joining the Steelers, Raiders, and Patriots.

Back in 2019, Brown was thought to be one of the best receivers in the entire NFL. Even when he played in 2021, he did so at a high level. The question has never been about talent with Brown, but rather, his ability to stay out of trouble. However, Brown does not want to play. He has been unable to do that, but Brown could sign a one-day contract to come back to Pittsburgh and officially retire.

His exit from the Steelers was rocky, as he forced his way out. The Steelers would trade him for third and fifth-round picks to the Raiders. Brown called off a proposed trade to the Buffalo Bills beforehand. As such, it would be interesting to see if the Steelers would allow Brown to sign the one-day contract to retire a Steeler, but it seems that is what Brown’s heart desires.
