Injury Report: Chickillo, Conner, Haden, Williams DNP Wednesday

Five Steelers players missed practice on Wednesday and another was limited in the team’s first tune-up for Sunday’s road game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Mike Tomlin has already ruled fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) out for the game.

Outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo (plantar fasciitis, right foot), running back James Conner (knee), cornerback Joe Haden (AC joint sprain, right shoulder) and Vince Williams (hamstring) all did not practice on Wednesday. Tomlin characterized those players as questionable on Tuesday.

Conner said on Tuesday and again on Wednesday that he plans to play, but did not practice with a knee injury suffered in the second half against Seattle last Sunday.

Haden was injured in the season opener against New England and returned to that game. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday leading up to the Seahawks game, but played almost the entire game. Barring a setback, he should be expected to play.

Chickillo was still wearing a walking boot on his right foot. Ola Adeniyi will get more reps at outside linebacker if he can’t play. Williams was replaced after his injury last Sunday by Devin Bush.

Tight end Vance McDonald joined the injury list as a limited participant with a back injury. His status is unknown.
