ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler thinks quarterback Aaron Rodgers is waiting on another team before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently revealed the reason for his delay in decision is due to issues in his personal life. However, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler believes it could also be because he is still holding out hope for another team.

“There’s some teams I’ve talked to that are still kind of wondering — is he just waiting out the Vikings,” Fowler said on the “Dan Patrick Show.” “You know, because the Vikings would be an ideal scenario — one of the best play callers in the league in Kevin O’Connell, nine dome games. You’re guaranteed nine dome games per year. There’s some element of that, but checking with the Vikings — I still don’t expect that. They’re moving forward with J.J. McCarthy. So, he really has no other options, other than Pittsburgh or retire.”

Rodgers has been linked to the Vikings for much of the offseason with many thinking he would like to complete the Brett Favre trifecta by playing for the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and lastly Minnesota, before hanging up his cleats for good.

That still seems unlikely, though. The Vikings haven’t completely closed the door on signing Rodgers, but their full focus is on McCarthy, and rightfully so, after spending the No. 10 overall pick on him a year ago.

That has left Rodgers’ decision between playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers or retiring, especially after shutting down the idea of playing for the New Orleans Saints over the weekend.

All signs point toward the 41-year-old eventually signing with the Steelers. It remains to be seen when that will happen, but they have remained patient with him all offseason and there’s no reason to think that will change anytime soon.
