Few NFL games end in blowouts, meaning more often than not, the contest is decided in the final moments with key plays down the stretch.
As a result, teams need players who can perform under pressure, and the Pittsburgh Steelers happen to have one of the best.
According to the Action Network, Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was the club’s top clutch performer in 2020.
Smith-Schuster was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s go-to target in pivotal moments last season, as the wideout led the entire league with 29 clutch targets.
Smith-Schuster posted a 62% successful play rate on those opportunities, highlighting his ability to come up big in high-pressure situations.
Smith-Schuster led the Steelers with 97 receptions in 2020, while also recording 831 yards and nine touchdowns.
Selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Southern California, Smith-Schuster has 293 receptions, 3,565 yards and 24 touchdowns over his Steeler career.
He was selected to his first and only Pro Bowl in 2018.
Roethlisberger was rated as Pittsburgh’s second-most clutch player with his 35 career comebacks and 46 game-winning drives.
