Kansas City Chiefs Clinch Bye, Home-Field Advantage through AFC Playoffs

The Kansas City Chiefs has secured the AFC’s lone first-round by in the 2020 NFL Playoffs, by defeating the Atlanta Falcons, 17-14 to improve to 14-1 on the season.

The Chiefs needed either a victory or a loss by the Pittsburgh Steelers or Buffalo Bills in order to secure the first-round bye.  Kansas City, the defending Super Bowl champions, had already clinched the AFC West divisional title.

There are usually two byes per conference, but with the NFL playoff expanded to 14 teams for this season, just the No. 1 seed will have the first weekend of the postseason off.

The top seed also comes with guaranteed home-field advantage for the Divisional Playoffs and the AFC Championship Game, should the Chiefs advance.

The Steelers can still finish with the No. 2 or No. 3 seed.
