Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell and fellow former NFL running back Adrian Peterson weighed in on Friday ahead of their scheduled boxing match Saturday night.

Bell weighed in at 204 pounds, and he will concede 14 pounds during the bout to Peterson, who checked in at 218 pounds on Friday night. Both fighters are 6-foot-1. The two did the traditional weigh-in stare down on Friday.

Bell and Peterson are fighting on the Social Gloves 2 card, starting at 11 p.m. on FITE TV. Former NBA player Nick Young is also on the card. The main event features YouTubers Austin McBroon and AnEsonGib. The promotion held a similar card in Miami last yer.

The former running backs are scheduled to fight four rounds in the catch-weight fight. It is the boxing debut for each player, neither of which has officially retired from the NFL. Bell said he was “stepping away” from football in July.

Bell, 30, played last season with the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but recorded a career-low 39 carries for 101 yards on the season. The former Steelers second-round draft pick was a three-time All-Pro in his four seasons in Pittsburgh, but left the team after sitting out the 2018 season in a contract dispute and never re-gained the level of success he had with the Steelers.

Peterson, 37 saw time with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks in 2021, rushing 38 times for 98 yards. He scored two touchdowns. The 2012 NFL MVP, Peterson was a seven-time All-Pro while with the Minnesota Vikings from 2007-16, and has bounced around the NFL since.

The fight was originally scheduled for July 30, but was pushed back after Gib suffered a head injury in training.

Frank Gore, a running back contemporary of Bell and Peterson, won his professional boxing debut in May, defeating Yaya Olorunsola via knockout in Biloxi, Mississippi.
