Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has a new three-year contract, but what does he have to do to reverse the seven-year playoff slide the team has been on and reward the faith that Art Rooney II has shown in his coaching abilities in the next few years?

Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Podcast to break down the things that have held Tomlin back, what matters and what really doesn’t about the team’s lack of playoff success. How much has coaching been the reason for the recent downturn, compared to quarterback play and other concerns?

It’s clear that the offense has been the side of the ball holding the Steelers back. What does Tomlin have to do to right the ship over there? Is new coordinator Arthur Smith the answer? It it simply a matter of finding a solution at quarterback? Or is the team missing a vital piece of culture needed to have success?
