CLEVELAND — Browns cornerback Greg Newsome paid tribute to late Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins with his pregame outfit prior to the Steelers and Browns squaring off on Thursday Night Football.

Dwayne Haskins died back in April after a car accident in Florida. The outpouring of support from around the league still continues, and the Steelers are wearing a patch dedicated to Haskins for the entire season. Newsome played against Haskins while in the Big Ten at Northwestern while Haskins was at Ohio State, and as a quarterback and cornerback, they knew each other well.

The Browns and Steelers are rivals, but it is always great to see shows of respect like this one. For what was a tragic event in the football community, everyone rallied around the Haskins family and the Steelers. Newsome showcasing this support is a classy move and a great tribute.

Even though the Steelers and Browns will play a physical game, moments like this in sports showcase the human element to everything. Newsome and Haskins knew one another from their time facing off in the Big Ten, and that connection is never severed. Even as rivals, the brethren of football players is a brotherhood. Examples like this one, which are a great display by Newsome, showcase just how tight-knit that community actually is to the outside world.
