Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was ranked as the third-best coach currently in the NFL by Ross Tucker of 33rd Team.

Tucker ranked all 32 NFL head coaches, and put Tomlin third, behind only Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Those three are the active leaders in head coach wins. Belichick is first with 298, Reid second with 247 and Tomlin third with 163.

They are also in the top four of career winning percentage among current head coaches with at least 50 wins. Belichick is first at .662, Reid second at .641 and Tomlin fourth at .636. Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott is third with a .639 winning percentage. McDermott finished a distant 22nd in Tucker’s ranking.

Tomlin’s list of regular-season accomplishments is impressive, but he has not won a Super Bowl since 2008, and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016, leaving Pittsburgh fans with angst toward their probable Hall of Fame head coach.

“Yes, Pittsburgh Steelers fans want more recent postseason success but 16 seasons without a losing record is crazy impressive, especially when you consider the manner in which they’ve done it the last few years,” Tucker wrote.

The rest of the top 10 included Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton, Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers, Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants coach Brian Daboll, Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks and Doug Pederson of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The other three AFC North head coaches fared poorly in the power rankings, with Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh 11th, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor 12th and Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski 23rd.
