With the 2022 NFL Draft just 24 days away, a pair of NFC franchises have agreed on a blockbuster trade that could have major implications on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round hopes, as the New Orleans Saints have acquired the 16th and 19th selections from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a package that includes the 18th overall pick.

The trade also includes a third- and seventh-rounder this year, a 2023 first-rounder and 2024 second-round selection. New Orleans also receives a 2022 sixth-round selection.

The move could damage the Steelers’ plans of drafting their next franchise quarterback at No. 20, as the Saints will now have two chances to select their next signal caller ahead of Pittsburgh, though the Saints have already signed Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton to free agent contacts this offseason.

Still, the Saints having two shots at a first-round quarterback instead of the Eagles, who are locked in with Jalen Hurts, makes it more likely one of the top passers is off the board before Pittsburgh picks.

As for the Eagles, they continue to stockpile draft capital for the near future. Philadelphia still owns the 15th-overall pick in this year’s draft.
