The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in the latest mock draft from NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks.

The Steelers, along with the other 31 teams, passed on Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder and the rest of the quarterbacks in the first round. If this mock draft comes true, it would be the first draft since 1996 to have zero quarterbacks selected in the first round.

Wide receiver is one of the positions the Steelers are expected to target in the upcoming draft after losing Juju Smith-Schuster, James Washington and Ray-Ray McCloud to free agency.

“The spectacular catch-and-run specialist is a big-play weapon with polished route-running skills and strong hands,” Brooks wrote.

Dotson ranks third all-time at Penn State in career receiving touchdowns (23), fourth in receiving yards (2,620), fourth in receptions (175) and is one of 10 Nittany Lions to reach the 2,000 career receiving yards mark. His 10 career 100-yard receiving games is tied for second all-time at Penn State.

It would be the first time the Steelers selected a wide receiver in the first round since 2006 when the team selected Santonio Holmes. It will continue a trend of drafting wide receivers in the earlier rounds though as they face selected a wide receiver within the first three rounds in four of the last five seasons.

The Steelers met with Dotson at the combine, but sent only defensive coaches to Penn State’s pro day.
