Odds Released for Steelers 49th Overall Pick

The latest odds have been released for what direction the Steelers will go in with the 49th overall pick.

While there is far from a consensus on what the team will do come Friday night, oddsmakers believe the team is leaning towards addressing the offensive side of the ball.

Pittsburgh is -150 (5/7) to select an offensive player with their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

It makes sense that the they would be looking for help on offense. The Steelers were one of the worst offensive teams in the league last season, ranking 31st in passing and 29th in rushing.

Still, the exact position they would address is unclear. Mock drafts over the last few months have projected the team going in a number of directions, taking a running back, wide receiver, offensive lineman or even a quarterback.

In contrast, the Steelers are +110 (11/10) to go the defensive route, potentially going after an edge rusher or safety.

While you can never have enough depth, the Steelers would appear to be in a good place on the defensive side. They led the league with 54 sacks in 2019, and boasted the third-best pass defense in football.

The Steelers will be spectators during the first round Thursday night, having traded their pick to the Miami Dolphins last season for star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
