Odds: Steelers Favorites for Week 3 against Los Angeles Chargers

The Pittsburgh Steelers open as 2.5-point favorites over the Los Angeles Chargers, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The Steelers have -130 odds on the money line. The Chargers are +110. The over/under point total for the game is 36.5 points.

The Steelers are coming off a 13-6 win over the Broncos in Denver, while the Chargers destroyed the Carolina Panthers, 26-3, on Sunday. Both teams are 2-0 and have elite defenses. The Chargers have the top-ranked scoring defense (6.5 points per game) and the second-ranked total defense (227.5 yards per game). The Steelers are the second-ranked scoring defense (8 points per game) and fourth in total defense (270.5 yards per game).

The Steelers and Broncos went under their total (38.5) on Sunday and would have gone under this week’s number, as well. The Steelers have out-scored their opponents 31-16 through two games. They have scored just one touchdown through eight quarters.

Steelers went off as three-point underdogs against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, but left Atlanta with an 18-10 victory. The Steelers did not cover their 3-point spread against Denver on Sunday with winning by seven. The Steelers were 10-8 against the spread last season and had 11 games go under their total and seven over. The Steelers have went under the point total in both games this season.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert told reporters he got an X-Rays done on a lower body injury after Sunday’s win, so that will be something to monitor throughout the week. Herbert was seen walking with a noticeable limp while returning to the Chargers’ locker room after the game.

“I must’ve just got rolled up. Big pile, got rolled up. Walked off, was a little sore, taped it up, went in and got X-rays. I’ll know more in the next couple of days, but was able to finish the game and keep moving around on it,” Herbert said. 

The Chargers are 2-0 for the first time since 2012, while the Steelers are 2-0 for the first time since 2020. The Steelers, Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans are the five remaining unbeaten teams in the AFC.
