Oddsmakers Believe Steelers Likely to Bench Ben Roethlisberger This Season

Following Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s lackluster start to the season, some corners of the fanbase been calling for him to be benched.

While that is not in the team’s immediate plans, and head coach Mike Tomlin said that he didn’t even consider it last Sunday against Cincinnati, oddsmakers believe it could happen down the line.

Roethlisberger is favored at -165 to be benched at some point this season, +125 to retain his job as the Steelers’ starter, courtesy of BetOnline.

The 18-year veteran has not exactly impressed through three games, completing just 63.8% of his passes for three touchdowns and three interceptions. Roethlisberger is also averaging just 6.2 yards per attempt, and has already been sacked eight times.

Mason Rudolph is Pittsburgh’s immediate backup, followed by Dwayne Haskins.
