Many are beginning to question if free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers is ever going to make a decision on his football future. But Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is confident in what he believes Rodgers will decide.

“I’m pretty sure [the Steelers] know what they’re doing,” LaFleur said on the “Up & Adams” show. “I’m sure they’re confident in what they’re doing, and I would fully expect him to be a Pittsburgh Steeler.”

LaFleur is quite familiar with Rodgers. He coached the four-time NFL MVP for four years (2019-22) in Green Bay.

However, that doesn’t mean the Steelers have reached out to LaFleur for any advice. In fact, he revealed head coach Mike Tomlin and the rest of Pittsburgh’s brass hasn’t said a word to him.

No, not once. Nothing,” LaFleur said. “Neither has Arthur [Smith], their OC. I haven’t heard from either of those guys, in regards to him.”

That may just be because the Steelers are confident they will eventually land him. That’s exactly what they’ve expressed all offseason.

“We keep hearing that he’s, I guess, headed in our direction. That seems to be all signs are positive so far,” president Art Rooney II said at the 2025 NFL owners meetings in April. “We keep getting positive sort-of signals about it. I’d say we feel pretty good about it.”

Pittsburgh has reportedly remained in constant contact with Rodgers, so it seems that it is only a matter of time until he officially signs.

If that is how things play out, it will set up what would be a much-anticipated revenge game against the Packers in Week 8 on “Sunday Night Football.”
