Carolina Panthers Claim former Steelers WR Donte Moncrief off Waivers

Former Steelers receiver Donte Moncrief has found a new team. The Carolina Panthers claimed Moncrief off of waivers on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Moncrief, who was a third round pick of the Colts in 2014, signed a two-year deal with Pittsburgh in March. He was waived last week after struggling in the opportunities presented to him so far this season, which included getting the first shot at being the second receiver option behind JuJu Smith-Schuster.

By waiving Moncrief, the Steelers were able to protect the compensatory pick they received for losing Le’Veon Bell. In the 5 games he appeared in for Pittsburgh, Moncrief recoded 4 receptions for 18 yards.
