Steelers Daily: Watt Injury Causes Controversy; QB1 Settled?

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished their preseason undefeated for the first time since 1997, but an injury to T.J. Watt caused controversy both in his deployment and the way he was injured.

The Steelers defense answered the call, as the first team pitched a first-half shutout and the Steelers knocked off the Lions, 19-9 to finish the preseason undefeated.

Even after a month of training camp and three preseason games, Mike Tomlin is not yet ready to name a starting quarterback.

Tomlin also gave a motivational speech to the Pitt basketball team on Saturday. “If you’re really chasing rare air, you have to commit to being uncomfortable,” Tomlin, in part, told the team.

T.J. Watt gave out two free tickets to the Steelers’ preseason finale against the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. Watt ran a contest on Twitter where the first person to share a photo in front of the new logo at Acrisure Stadium would be the winner.

The Baltimore Ravens mascot got carted off the field at Saturday’s preseason game against the Washington Commanders. The Ravens mascot was tackled by a youth football player during halftime.

The Ravens defeated Washington, 17-15, which means Baltimore has completed another perfect preseason and have now won 23 consecutive preseason games.

Byron Leftwich talked about the everlasting impact that Bruce Arians had on his coaching career on The Pivot Podcast. Leftwich and Arians first crossed paths in 2008 when the Steelers signed Leftwich as a backup quarterback. Arians was the Steelers’ offensive coordinator at the time.
