INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers offensive line (OL) has been a hot topic in mock drafts, but make no mistake about it, the Steelers hogs up front did improve over the 2022 NFL season and general manager Omar Khan was more than impressed with the work his players put together.

So, when he was asked about potentially addressing the offensive line, Khan did full-on out and say it, but he was happy with what he saw from the unit in 2022. That does not mean that there can not be room for it to be addressed, however. And that could require the correct circumstances.

“Like I mentioned earlier, you always try to improve every positional room when you can,” Khan said. “Specifically, to our offensive line group, I said it, it was really encouraging to see those guys grow and come together and just become better as the season went on.”

However, with the addition of Andy Weidl and his success in drafting offensive linemen in Philadelphia, that could swing them to draft someone in the trenches. For Khan, that is a big part of the Steelers overall team success throughout the years, so he can not shy away from it.

“You guys look at the Steeler history, that’s always been a big part of the job,” Khan said. “Our winning teams have always been the O-line, and the D-line, and the big guys. I can’t speak for Philadelphia, but I think that was a big part of theirs also.”

Khan would not name a specific niche for Weidl, but the offensive line seems to be a place where he will upgrade if the value is right, but is that value right? It will take some very specific circumstances for that to be true at No. 17, but with a deeper tackle class, it is possible the right player could be there for Khan and the Steelers.
