Pittsburgh Steelers Release Safety Amid Roster Shakeup
The Pittsburgh Steelers released safety Jalen Elliott amid a series of moves that shook up the team’s 53-man roster.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, needing to quickly make roster moves in order to replace injured offensive lineman James Daniels, have announced a number of roster transactions on Tuesday, including the release of safety Jalen Elliott from the 53-man roster.
Elliott was originally an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. He first signed with the Detroit Lions after the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent two season with the Lions before practice squad stops with the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders.
Elliot signed with the Steelers in 2023 offseason. Since then, he has been an on-and-off roster/practice squad player who has made his niche in special teams. He was promoted to the active roster and made his debut in week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was also active for the Indianapolis Colts game on Sunday.
With the signing of Terrell Edmunds, this is a move that makes sense as Edmunds has not only has starter experience in this defense, but also special teams experience.
The Steelers additionally placed James Daniels on Injured Reserve due to his season ending injury.
The Steelers will continue to make moves as they prepare for the Dallas Cowboys coming into town for a Sunday Night Football showdown in Acrisure Stadium.
Elliott was playing good football why you let him go come on now. Then you sign to practice squad T E he can’t cover always looking im the back field than offense player get behind him comenon steelers.
Totally different Elliott bud. Jalen didn’t even play!
I don’t know what kind of football he was playing.
However, multiple weeks undefeated, after the first loss is likely time for some changes: perhaps ridding of the overpaid QB they don’t need.
Oh, I ALSO don’t know about “looking im” anything, nor your closing remark.
What over payed qb we don’t need? Wilson is being paid 1 mil by the Steelers which is ridiculously cheap for a veteran backup qb. So not sure what your saying?
You’re probably thinking of De’shon Elliott.
