Pittsburgh Steelers rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu will miss the remainder of the 2024 regular season after suffering what turned out to be a major knee injury in practice on Friday.

Fautanu suffered ligament damage while dislocating his kneecap, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He will miss the rest of the regular season, though he could possibly return if the Steelers make the playoffs.

Fautanu had just returned from an MCL sprain in his left knee that he suffered in the first preseason game. He dressed but did not play in Week 1, but was put into the starting lineup in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos, replacing Broderick Jones.

Jones was back at right tackle replacing Fautanu in the Steelersโ€™ Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

The Steelers have dealt with significant injuries on their offensive line already this season. Center/guard Nate Herbig was lost for the season to a rotator cuff injury in training camp. Left guard Isaac Seumalo has missed the first three games with a strained pec and swing tackle Dylan Cook is on injured reserve with a foot injury.

The Steelers called up tackle John Leglue from the practice squad to play in Sundayโ€™s game. They have not filled Fautanuโ€™s spot on the 53-man roster since placing him on injured reserve on Saturday.
