Steelers Sights and Sounds: Darnell Washington, George Pickens Run Routes

Steelers George Pickens

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers took the field for the second day of OTAs as they work deeper into their offseason program. On the second day, the team ran routes and worked on blocking at different portions in practice.

That includes some players such as Darnell Washington and George Pickens. They worked with Kenny Pickett on some routes during a portion of practice. The team will aim to take their passing game to the next level after a season where they struggled to create explosive plays.

Matt Canada’s offense will be under the microscope after multiple additions, including in the pass catchers room and on the offensive line. With Pickett heading into his second season as a potential breakout candidate, it seems to be a year where it is put up or shut up time for the Steelers offense under the guidance of Canada. With Mike Tomlin expecting the team to start fast, that becomes even more paramount.

Meanwhile, additions such as Allen Robinson II and the returning Calvin Austin III are looking to gather their feet as the week continues go onward. They will be key pieces in making sure the offense does take that next step along with a potential bounce-back season from Diontae Johnson.
