The Pittsburgh Steelers recorded a 28-27 win against the Washington Commanders despite the homesteading Commanders being three-point favorites over the Steelers. Mike Tomlin and his team embrace the opportunity to be the underdogs. Though you won’t see the dog masks come out, you will see stats that highlight Tomlin’s teams in this position.

“>ESPN Bet, the Steelers under Tomlin boast a 58-32-3 record against the spread. That is an impressive feat as the Steelers continue to put up winning records under their head coach—who is only two wins away from extending his non-losing season streak to 18 seasons.
It was a tough and well-earned victory. Despite numerous questionable officiating calls, an ill-timed red zone turnover, and falling behind 10 points, the Steelers kept the course. Russell Wilson capped the 28-27 comeback victory with a 32-yard touchdown to newly acquired wide receiver Mike Williams.
From there, the defense forced a turnover on downs and the Steelers were able to run the clock out—courtesy of Wilson’s effective hard count that drew the Commanders offsides.
The Steelers currently open up as underdogs in their next matchup as they will be hosting the 3-point favorite Baltimore Ravens. The winner of this matchup will seize control of the AFC North.
The schedule only gets tougher from here. The Commanders were a brutal battle as it was, but the Steelers will take on all six divisional contests, travel to Philadelphia (where they have not won since 1965), and host the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. That’s potentially four teams in playoff position, one they are racing for the AFC North Lead, two division leaders, and an undefeated team.
