PITTSBURGH — The injuries to T.J. Watt and Diontae Johnson are minor, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said during halftime on the CBS broadcast. Both Watt and Johnson could have returned to play during the regular season if they needed to, however, they are out for the rest of the game.

“If this is a regular season game, we may see them back in this game,” Tomlin said. “There’s no long-term concern at the moment for T.J. Watt or Diontae Johnson.”

Johnson suffered a shoulder injury after he landed hard on it. Watt suffered a left knee on a cut block from Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson. Luckily for the Steelers, it seems they have escaped both of those situations without a serious injury to both of their key players.

The Steelers will likely take precautions with both players in the lead-up to their week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Mike Tomlin seems to imply that they will be ready for the first week of the game. That is good news for a Steelers team that needs both players badly.
