Rapoport: Kirk Cousins is Still a Possibility for Steelers
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport believes the Pittsburgh Steelers could still trade for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The Pittsburgh Steelers added Ohio State quarterback Will Howard with the No. 185 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. But they still have a major question mark at the position, which is why NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport believes Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is still in play.
“So the Kirk Cousins thing, I was kind of keeping track, trying to figure out if he leaves Atlanta, where might he go,” Rapoport said on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I think if Aaron Rodgers does not go to Pittsburgh, I think that would be a possibility.”
Rodgers is still the Steelers top choice, and they’ve remained confident he’ll eventually sign with them. But it remains to be seen when he’s planning to make a decision.
Rapoport thinks it should come sooner rather than later with most of his options running out.
“It feels like to me like the other possibilities kind of don’t exist,” Rapoport said. “People talked about the Vikings. They traded for Sam Howell. People talked about maybe the Browns. They drafted a second quarterback in Shedeur Sanders. So I don’t think he’s going there.”
Cousins’ future with the Falcons is up in the air after he threw for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 14 games before being benched for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. last season.
However, Rapoport believes he’ll end up sticking in Atlanta.
“The more this goes, I kind of think he’s gonna be the Falcons’ backup, which there’s no source in that because the Falcons have told us this from the beginning,” Rapoport said. “It’s just we kind of like didn’t believe them, it feels like.”
Either way, it’s safe to assume Pittsburgh is hoping to have its quarterback room resolved soon with the offseason program already underway.
