Report: Free Agent Steelers RB James Conner Visiting Arizona Cardinals

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is reportedly visiting the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.

There has been very little chatter regarding Conner’s next destination to this point, as he is still on the market nearly a month into free agency.

Arizona is looking for additional weapons to surround young quarterback Kyler Murray, and could use another running back alongside Chase Edmunds. The Cardinals owned the league’s seventh-best rushing attack in 2020.

An Erie, Pa. native and McDowell High School grad, the Steelers selected  Conner in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Pitt. Conner has played his entire career — high school, college and professional — in Western Pennsylvania.

Conner was named to his first and only Pro Bowl in 2018, but he saw his production drop significantly over the last two seasons due to a combination of injuries and poor offensive line play. Conner rushed for 721 yards and six scores with the Steelers in 2020.
