Steelers Adrian Klemm

The New England Patriots will hire former Steelers OL coach Adrian Klemm to take the same position, meaning Klemm will leave Oregon to head to the Patriots in 2023 with a pay raise, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.

This past season, Klemm was the associate head coach and run game coordinator at Oregon after leaving the Steelers following the 2021 season. Pittsburgh ended up hiring Pat Meyer to replace Klemm following his decision to head to the Pac-12, but he now returns to the NFL.

Adrian Klemm spent four years in New England as a player from 2000-2004, and he now returns to the Patriots as a coach. In the past, Klemm spent plenty of time at UCLA and SMU as a coach before the Steelers brought him up to the NFL level in 2019 as the assistant offensive line coach.

Klemm first interviewed with the Patriots in January for their vacant offensive coordinator position. However, the Patriots ended up hiring away Alabama OC Bill O’Brien, who returned to New England to take up the job and get a pay raise as well. Still, Klemm will still have a significant amount of pull in the organization.

The Steelers saw much better results from their offensive line in 2022, after chaining out their center and right guard and making the switch to Pat Meyer as offensive line coach. However, Klemm turned into a budding star in Oregon, and as such, he ends up getting a much-deserved promotion after his work at Oregon.
