The injuries for the Las Vegas Raiders are continuing to pile up ahead of their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.
According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Raiders backup quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to miss multiple weeks with a quad injury.
Mariota reportedly tweaked the quad on a 31-yard scamper Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. He did not see the field again following the play.
#Raiders QB Marcus Mariota is expected to be out multiple weeks after aggravating a quad injury during a 31-yard run on Monday night, source said. A few weeks is the best case scenario. While an injury to a backup quarterback would sound insignificant to some teams, the Raiders actually utilize Mariota’s skillset as a runner quite often on the offensive side.
Mariota is in his second year with the Raiders. He saw action in one game a season ago, passing for 266 yards and a touchdown in a relief of starter Derek Carr. Mariota also rushed for 88 yards and a score in the game.
