Report: Steelers Could Play Seahawks in 17th Game

The NFL is on the verge of announcing a 17-game schedule starting next season.

Once the slate of games is inevitably expanded, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to play the Seattle Seahawks in the final week of the regular season.

The formula for deciding Week 17 opponents, reported by NBC Sports’ Peter King, would pit a team against another from the cross-conference division they played two years prior with a corresponding finish in the standings.

More simply put, the AFC North would match up with the NFC West because the two divisions squared off in 2019. As a result, the Steelers would face the Seahawks, who won their division a season ago.

Pittsburgh and Seattle have history, and have played some entertaining games in recent years. Their last two meetings have been decided by a combined eleven points. The Seahawks have won both meetings. The clubs also met in Super Bowl XL, which the Steelers took 21-10 in Detroit.
