The Pittsburgh Steelers have released tight end Marcus Baugh, the team announced on Saturday.

Pittsburgh had signed the veteran tight end on July 30 when they were severely thin at the position in the thick of training camp.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Las Vegas Raiders, Baugh has spent stints with four NFL teams and the San Diego Fleet of the now defunct AAF.

He caught 55 passes for 607 yards and eight touchdowns over four seasons at Ohio State.

The Steelers have until 4 p.m. on Tuesday to cut down their roster to 53.
