The Pittsburgh Steelers have created yet another hole at wide receiver after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. But NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport thinks they’ll attempt to fill that void sooner rather than later.

“I would be surprised if the Steelers are done at the wide receiver position,” Rapoport said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.” “They are likely to at least sign one more and there are a couple of talented wide receivers still on the market.”

It’s very unlikely that whoever the Steelers potentially add at this point of the offseason will be as talented as Pickens. Over the past three years, he has recorded 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns as the team’s undoubted No. 1 wide receiver.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t any good options left on the open market, though. In fact, the Jacksonville Jaguars just added to an intriguing pool of free agent wide receivers by releasing Gabe Davis shortly after news broke of the Pickens trade.

Davis could prove to be the perfect replacement for Pickens. He is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds and just turned 26 last month.

He did miss seven games with a torn meniscus last season but has proven he can be a difference maker when healthy with 183 catches for 2,969 yards and 29 touchdowns in the first five years of his NFL career.

Pittsburgh could also look to add another playmaker via a trade. If that’s the case, the team would likely prefer to move a future Day 3 pick as it continues to stockpile picks for the 2026 NFL Draft.

However, it’s difficult to not make the connection of a potential reunion between quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Allen Lazard, who is reportedly “in play” for the Steelers.

Either way, it’s safe to assume Pittsburgh isn’t going to roll into the 2025 season with its current crop of wide receivers, and rightfully so, after pushing a very similar product onto the field last year.
