The Steelers contract with free agent guard Trai Turner is for one year and worth $3 million, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Turner made $8.8 million while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020. The exchange from previous starter David DeCastro, who was released on Thursday, to Turner, who was signed on Friday, will save the Steelers more than $5 million against the 2021 salary cap.

The 28-year-old Turner will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2021, meaning his signing is expected at this point to be a short-term, rather than a long-term replacement for DeCastro at right guard. DeCastro had spent 10 years at the position after being a first-round pick in 2012.
