PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers package of plays for quarterback Justin Fields were revealed on Sunday for the first time, and it played a key role in the 18-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Fields rushed for 17 yards on only two carries, but his 9-yard run late in the fourth quarter set up a Najee Haris first down run on third-and-1 to secure the win. Fields slid too early on the run, but it ended up not hurting the Steelers.

“We had a whole cool package for him,” Russell Wilson said of Fields. “Obviously, Justin’s so talented, man. He’s such a great teammate and just whatever it takes for us to win and get another first down was key. I think obviously he did a really good job on that zone and just reading it out. He’s such a great athlete and can do so many things for us.

“He’s a great player, he’s a great teammate, he’s a hard worker. We just love doing this thing together, man. I think [Kyle Allen], he’s been in games before. All three of us have played some big-time football.”

Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith hinted earlier this week that the special package for Fields could be featured against Baltimore.

“We’ve had a package every week,” Smith said on Thursday. “Sometimes, it goes back to the flow of the game, and obviously, being smart with Justin. He had a little bit of a hamstring, so that went into a little bit with the decision-making. But it’ll be ready to go when we need it. Maybe it’s Sunday, maybe it’s next Sunday. But I’m very confident when we break it out, it’ll make a difference.”

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also gave Fields props for putting his hand in the pile and contributing to the Steelers’ win.

“It was timely,” Tomlin said of Fields’ clutch 9-yard run. “He had a minor hamstring [injury] on the other side of the bye that kind of slowed some of this. But, we haven’t been bashful about some of our intentions … He’s a capable dude, we’re gonna utilize him. He’s really talented. I’m excited about both of these quarterbacks we got on our roster. They both are gonna be reasons why we’re successful and have been … [Fields] had a heck of a week representing [Lamar] Jackson for us, for example. I’m glad he had an opportunity to contribute and put his hand in the pile and be a component of why we were successful.”
