PITTSBURGH โ€” Quarterback Russell Wilson has begun to ramp up his participation in Pittsburgh Steelers practice, but remains limited physically.

Wilson said that he has been doing 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 team work this week, but heโ€™s still not doing the same amount of physical work that the teamโ€™s other two quarterbacks are doing. Wilson has yet to be listed as a full participant in practice since re-injuring his right calf on Sept. 5.

โ€œWeโ€™re definitely ramping it up,โ€ Wilson said. โ€œItโ€™s been good. I feel great and Iโ€™m just getting better every day. โ€ฆ Definitely been able to hop into the team drills and get more plays and be able to do that. Thatโ€™s been great this week. Doing all the team. 11 on 11, 7 on 7, all that stuff, too. Itโ€™s been good.โ€

Wilson was recorded in the early portion of practice throwing passes to a member of the equipment staff. While Justin Fields and Kyle Allen worked bootleg throws, Wilson was limited to throwing flat-footed.

Wilson was asked about being fully dressed for this weekโ€™s game against the Dallas Cowboys, as opposed to serving as the emergency third quarterback, as he has in the each of the first four games. He seemed to suggest that heโ€™s not yet healthy enough to make that assessment.

โ€œThe first thing is making sure Iโ€™m physically ready to go,โ€ he said. โ€œEvery day Iโ€™ve been ready to go in some form or fashion, just in case of emergency. Thatโ€™s just kind of been my mentality, just in case something happens, to be ready and help us win.โ€

Wilson also said he doesnโ€™t necessarily feel like he will need a ton of full practices in order to be ready to play.

โ€œIโ€™ve played a lot of football,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m listening to the doctors, listening to the coach and just trying to make sure that theyโ€™re good and Iโ€™m good with everything else.โ€
